Overview
EOSCast is a mobile app that turns medical journal content into audio episodes, so clinicians and medical students can keep learning while they go about their day. The vision was a kind of Spotify for medical professionals: personalized to each person's field, and easy to listen to on the move.
But dense medical content is easy to put off, especially for people who are short on time. The experience had to make that content easy to find, simple to listen to, and genuinely useful for learning, while feeling modern and trustworthy enough for the medical field.
The Challenge
The design had to fit serious learning into a few simple taps. The app needed:
- Intuitive, low-friction navigation that fits how little time clinicians have
- A personalized feed so the content felt relevant from day one
- A familiar audio player, close to the streaming apps people already use
- Learning tools, flashcards and notes, connected to each episode
- A saved space that keeps episodes, flashcards, and notes together
My Role
During the design of the app, I was responsible for:
- Defining the UX strategy, design recommendations and the visual identity for the app
- Design architecture and user flows
- Designing the onboarding and personalization flow, the home and discovery experience, the player and the learning tools, and the saved library and profile section
- Building interactive prototypes
The Solution
We started by building wireframes in Figma Make. This let us confirm the functionality with the client before moving into design, so we caught gaps early and saved a round of revisions later.
With the functionality confirmed, the design focused on a few key decisions that shaped the experience:
